Verilaw
Selected to Provide Electronic Service for Nationwide Vitamins
Antitrust Litigation
June
2, 2000 (Washington, DC) - Verilaw Technologies, Inc. is pleased
to announce that it has been selected to design, implement,
and maintain an electronic service system for the nationwide
Vitamins Antitrust Litigation, currently pending in the federal
courts as MDL 1285.
The Verilaw
system will allow lawyers to serve their documents electronically,
rather than via mail. Traditionally, lawyers are required
to photocopy every document they file, and then mail the document
out to all of the other lawyers in the case. With the Verilaw
system, lawyers will be able to use the Internet to electronically
serve their documents on the other lawyers, eliminating all
the costs associated with copying and mailing. The Verilaw
system will also allow the lawyers to search and sort all
of the electronically served documents.
"We're
very excited about our work with the Vitamins Antitrust Litigation,
and about the benefits that lawyers can acheive with Verilaw's
electronic service system," said Brett M. Amdur, Verilaw's
President and Chief Executive Officer. "The efficiency
gains are incredible, resulting in huge cost savings for lawyers
and litigants."
